Boeing Super Stearman

Aaron Taylor |Twisted Texan Airshows

This Super Stearman was built in 1941 for the U.S. Navy as N2S-5 “Kaydet.” It was a trainer aircraft that most pilots used for their initial flight training. It served at Naval Air Station Bunk Hill in Indiana until the end of WWII.

After WWII, it was sold as surplus and used as a crop duster. It eventually made its way down to Guatemala, where it continued to crop dust. The Stearman returned to the US in the 80s and was restored.

It is called a “Super” Stearman because the original engine on this aircraft was only 220 horsepower, and the current engine has 450 horsepower, giving Aaron the ability to do some one-of-a-kind aerobatic maneuvers!
