Bob Carlton – FoxJet
Bob Carlton started flying in 1979 at age 19 and has more than 2,000 hours of flight time in various aircraft. He began flying professionally in air shows in 1993 and hasn’t looked back!
Longtime air show fans may recognize Bob for his Super Salto sailplane, which he has flown at air shows for over 30 years. However, last year, Bob decided to elevate his performance by introducing his brand-new aircraft, the FoxJet!
This aircraft contains a similar grace and maneuverability as the Super Salto, except it has a high-power twist—two jet engines. Previously, in the Super Salto, Bob needed a tow plane to get up to the right altitude, and his performance was over when he got close to the ground. With the FoxJet, there’s no tow plane needed, and his performance doesn’t end as he gets closer to the ground. Using the jet engines, Bob can soar back up and continue his aerial ballet. Bob’s high-energy, exciting performance in the FoxJet will feature loops, rolls, hammerheads, spins, and vertical penetration never before seen by a sailplane!
